Israeli Krav Maga Association U.S. Chief Instructor David Kahn holds two 5th-degree black belts, respectively awarded by Grandmaster Haim Gidon (as the highest-ranking instructor outside of Israel) and by the USJA in combat jujitsu.
He has trained all branches of the U.S. military, the Royal Marines, the Italian Carabinieri, along with several hundred federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. David has provided instruction at elite federal academies, including those of the Secret Service, FBI, and DEA, as well as the NYPD and numerous other prestigious law enforcement academies. He has also instructed at the Naval Special Warfare Advanced Training Command, the U.S. Marine Corps Martial Arts Center of Excellence (MACE), and the U.S. Army Combatives School.
A non-practicing attorney, David is a widely published use-of-force authority featured in major media outlets and professional publications. He is a six-time national book award winner and the author of eight books on defensive tactics, and he has produced the award-winning Mastering Krav Maga® DVD and online series.
KEN GILL

Ken Gill is a veteran law enforcement professional and Pennsylvania state recognized instructor with more than 33 years of progressive experience in policing, training, and use‑of‑force expertise. He currently serves as a Sergeant with the City of Philadelphia Police Department, where he has been a leader in both frontline operations and advanced law enforcement training for over a decade.
Throughout his career, Ken has trained thousands of law enforcement officers and security professionals across Pennsylvania, earning a reputation as a highly respected subject matter expert in Use of Force, Control Tactics, and De‑Escalation. He is a Master Control Tactics Instructor certified by the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) and serves as the lead Use of Force and Control Tactics instructor for the Philadelphia Police Department.
Ken has played a pivotal role in advancing modern police training standards. He helped develop and write state‑level and city‑level curriculum in Use of Force, Control Tactics, Tactical Communication, and he was instrumental in creating the Reality‑Based Training Section for the Philadelphia Police Department. As a certified Use of Force subject matter expert, he has reviewed and testified in numerous criminal, civil, and internal investigations, providing clear, credible analysis.
In addition to his department leadership role, Ken is a full‑time instructor affiliated with numerous respected organizations, including MPOETC, the Pennsylvania State Police Lethal Weapons Training, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Georgetown Law, Force Science Institute, and the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF). His instructional portfolio spans general law enforcement academics, firearms, control tactics, less‑lethal weapons, tactical communication, active shooter response, active bystandership for law enforcement (ABLE).
Ken brings exceptional depth of practical knowledge to his training, backed by a lifetime commitment to defensive tactics and martial arts. He holds a black belt in Kenpo, with additional certifications in Krav Maga and Jiu‑Jitsu, and has dedicated more than 26 years to continuous training and instructor development in mixed martial arts and applied combative systems.
He remains deeply passionate about professional instruction, officer safety, and ethical, effective policing. Ken is widely regarded for his measured, principled approach to training, his ability to translate complex concepts into practical application, and his unwavering commitment to preparing professionals for real‑world decision‑making under pressure.
